About Us
Our Story
We started with a simple observation: running an SME in Singapore is genuinely hard work, and most of the available support assumes you already know what you are doing.
The grant portals are not always intuitive. The loan application requirements are not always clear. The compliance obligations pile up quietly until they become urgent. And most business owners are dealing with all of this while also trying to run their business.
Business Consultancy SG was set up to be the practical, knowledgeable partner that most SME owners wish they had access to earlier.
What Experience Has Taught Us
We have sat with founders weighing capital against organic growth, with family businesses in the middle of generational transitions, and with leadership teams who knew something was off but could not yet name it.
In each case, the most useful thing we brought was the ability to ask the right questions, sit with the uncomfortable answers, and help the people in the room think more clearly about what to do next.
What we have consistently observed is this: the businesses that grow well are not always the ones with the best product or the most capital. They are the ones with the clearest sense of what they are building and why.
Helping leadership teams achieve that clarity and maintain it is at the core of what we do.
How We Think About Strategy
Strategy is not a document produced once and referred back to occasionally. It is an ongoing discipline of understanding the environment, making deliberate choices about where to focus, and building the capacity to act on those choices consistently.
The most useful engagements we have been part of did not end with a presentation. They ended with a leadership team that thought differently, made decisions more clearly, and moved with more confidence than before.
💡The most productive strategy work tends to involve honest conversations about things that have not been working. That can be uncomfortable. It is also, in our experience, where the most useful insights come from.

Frequently Asked Questions
We have worked across retail, food and beverage, technology, healthcare, manufacturing, and family businesses.
We do not specialise in a single sector, and we find that working across industries gives us a perspective that is genuinely useful. That said, if your business operates in a highly specialised field, it is worth a conversation to assess fit honestly.
Seriously. We do not disclose client names, industries, or engagement details without explicit permission. The trust that comes from that approach is something we protect carefully.
It usually starts with a diagnostic conversation, where we ask questions and listen carefully before offering any point of view. We then agree on a focused scope that addresses the most pressing challenge rather than trying to do everything at once. Starting focused and building from there tends to produce better outcomes than a broad engagement that tries to cover too much ground too quickly.
It happens, and it is worth understanding why before starting something new.
In our experience, engagements that do not go well tend to fall into a few patterns: the scope was not clear enough at the start, the consultant disengaged after delivery, or the advice was not grounded in a genuine understanding of the business.
We try to address all three of those directly in how we work. If you have had a difficult experience before, we are open to talking through what happened and giving you a view on whether we would be a better fit.
It varies depending on the engagement, but it typically means regular working sessions with the leadership team, involvement in key decisions as they arise, and a standing availability to think through issues as they come up.
It is not a hands-off advisory arrangement where you receive a report and occasional check-in calls. We are genuinely involved in the work.
